Bhopal: Woman dies of burn injuries in Bilkhiria

BHOPAL: A 27-year-old married woman who had sustained severe burn injuries while cooking food in Bilkhiria on August 17, succumbed to her injuries after five days of treatment on Sunday.

Investigating officer SI Indal Singh said that deceased Sarita Singh, resided with her husband Daulat Ram and four children including three daughters in Jamunia Kalan village, Bilkhiria. Daulat is a farmer.

SI Singh said that on August 17, when Sarita tried to pour kerosene from a bottle without lid kept in an almirah, it fell upon her while she was cooking food on the stove. She caught fire and sustained severe burn injuries.

The SI said that her husband had gone out to fetch water when the incident took place. As he heard her screams, he rushed to check and doused the fire. He rushed her to hospital where she died while undergoing treatment on Friday. Acting on information, Bilkhiria police reached the spot and have registered a case.

SI Singh said that Sarita’s statements were recorded after the incident and she didn’t say anything suspicious.
