BHOPAL: There are certain tribal dances which are quite popular; these are a n integral part of various cultural extravaganzas organised in the city at regular intervals. But there are certain unique dance forms, which are quite rare and have a special appeal.
Thatya and Dhandaar dances fall in the latter category, this exotic cultural cuisine was served to a delighted virtual audience on Tuesday evening via online Gamak series, an endeavour by department of culture, Madhya Pradesh and Tribal Museum, Bhopal.
Presented by Vikky Waghmare and his troupe, these two majestic dances of Gond tribals, bewitched the audience completely. Rashmi Saxena, a classical dancer, said, “Right from costumes to expressions, zestful movements and footwork, the dancers didn’t allow the audience attention to wane even for a minute. The entire presentation seemed so effortless and that is something which appealed to me.”
These dances showcase tribal lifestyle, their inherent simplicity, their love for nature as well as their beautiful rituals and pride in their traditions, said Anup Golcha, who watched the dances online. He went on to add, “These are just the kind of elements that need to be introduced to our youngsters. I ensured that my daughter watched it online along with me.”
