BHOPAL: An 18-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted and sexually harassed by two youth in Habibganj locality on Saturday.
Police said the survivor is a student who lives in Habibganj locality. In her complaint to police she stated that on Saturday around 5 pm when she had gone to call one of her relatives in a nearby locality, accused Manish and Rohit, acquaintances of her relatives, were sitting outside the house.
While she was calling her relative, accused Manish sexually harassed her and as she protested, Manish and Rohit grabbed her hand and dragged her to the first floor of the building where they assaulted her with a belt and sticks.
The survivor somehow dialed her mother’s mobile number and when her mother heard her scream over the phone call, she rushed to help. On finding her mother, the accused managed to flee the spot. The survivor and her mother approached Habibganj police station on Saturday and lodged a complaint.
The survivor told cops that she had seen the accused in the past but had never interacted with them. A case of sexual harassment and assault has been registered against the accused and efforts are underway to nab them, police added.
