Bhopal: Mystery shrouds death of 21-year-old youth in Nishatpura

BHOPAL: A 21-year-old youth died after he ran one to two kilometres to save himself from a group of angry youths, who were chasing the victim and his friends over celebrating a late night birthday party in their locality on Wednesday.

The incident was reported at Nishatpura police station in the wee hours of Thursday.

The short post-mortem report revealed that his heart expanded due to low oxygen level while running and suddenly stopped working.

No injury marks were spotted on his body, so the youths, who chased him and his friends, got clean chit in the case.

Investigating officer sub-inspector Swami Nath Yadav said that the deceased Raja Rine, 21, resided with his family members in Motilal Nagar in Nishatpura.

He worked as a fruit vendor.

SI Yadav said that on Wednesday late night Rine along with his other four friends had left home to celebrate the birthday of one of his friends, Rasheed.

“All of them reached, Parwa Kheda area to celebrate their friend's birthday and then came to Motilal Nagar square to celebrate again. After celebrating the birthday at the square, they reached Badwai Jod area in Nishatpura to celebrate the birthday again around 4 am in the morning,” said SI Yadav, adding that while they were celebrating birthday outside their SUV, a resident named Shawez approached them to ask why they were disturbing the entire area so early in morning.

SI Yadav said that on finding Shawez alone, all of them misbehaved with Shawez and he called his brother for help.

As Shawez’s brother approached, a dispute took place between them and angry youths vandalised their SUV.

The SI said that when they realised that situation was out of control, all of them ran away to save their lives.

After running one and a half km, Rine stopped to drink water from a handpump near his house.

As he drank water, he collapsed on the ground and his friends were shocked to find him lying unconscious beside the handpump.

SI Yadav said that they rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead and cops were informed.

Nishatpura SHO Mahendra Singh Chouhan said that an assault case was registered against the accused on the complaint of one of Rine's friends, but the accused didn’t even touch Rine during the dispute.

He died after running a few kilometres. Further investigations are underway.
