BHOPAL: Five members of a family allegedly attacked two brothers in Gunga locality with swords and knives on Tuesday afternoon. They fled the village thinking that both the brothers were dead.
Both the brothers were rushed to hospital in critical condition where the elder brother died while undergoing treatment. His younger brother was undergoing treatment in critical condition in the ICU ward of a private hospital. Police registered a murder and attempt to murder case against the accused. The situation in the village was tense after the incident.
SHO Gunga Ramesh Rai said that a 16-year-old girl of a village in Gunga area went missing from home in the morning on June 30. Acting on his family members' complaint, police registered an abduction case against a youth named Aniket, who resided in the same village.
Four days later police arrested Aniket and recovered the girl. Acting on the girl's statements police registered a case on charges of rape against Aniket and produced him before the court from where he was sent to jail. Since then, the girl's family members were enraged over Aniket and his family.
SHO Rai said that on Wednesday afternoon, Aniket's two elder brothers Malkhan, 28, and Dinesh, 25, went to purchase ration from a PDS shop. The girl's family members got information about them and they reached the spot.
The girl's family members rounded them up and attacked them with swords and daggers. Both the brothers sustained severe injuries and collapsed on the ground. When the accused thought that they were dead, they fled the spot. The PDS shop owner informed police after which cops reached the spot and rushed the injured to a private hospital. The doctors declared Malkhan dead while Dinesh was undergoing treatment in critical condition.
SHO Rai said that police registered a case on charges of murder and attempt to murder against five accused including the girl's father, two brothers and two cousin brothers. All the accused fled the village after the incident and police were searching for them. The situation in the village was tense after the incident and heavy police force was deployed in the area.
The murder accused will be caught soon, said police.
