Bhopal: Man booked for raping, stalking his sister-in-law

BHOPAL: A 38-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by her brother-in-law at her home in Bajaria locality in June last year. The case was reported at Bajaria police station on Tuesday.

Sub-Inspector Riddhi Sharma said that the survivor resides with her family members in Bajaria locality. She stated in her complaint that in June last year, the accused brother-in-law, who resides close to her home, came to meet her.

On finding her alone at home, he outraged her modesty, threatening her of dire consequences.

The terrified woman remained silent and didn’t reveal the incident to anyone, fearing social defamation.

She alleged that for the past few days, the accused had again started stalking her and was pressurising her to seek divorce from her husband, so she gathered courage and approached police to file a complaint.

Acting on her complaint, a rape case under section of IPC was registered against the accused, further investigations are underway, said cops.

The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the survivor.(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
