Bhopal: Local elections are semi-final, says Nath

BHOPAL: State Congress chief Kamal Nath said on Sunday that local bodies' elections are a semifinal ahead of 2023 assembly election and incumbent party MLAs and aspirants for party ticket to contest assembly election must remember that party's performance in these elections would form the basis of their report card. Every leader and worker of the Congress has to put in all their might in the local bodies' election.

Addressing a meeting of divisional and district in-charge of the party, he said that the ruling BJP doesn't spare a chance to misuse the administration, therefore all candidates should remain cautious from the time they file their nomination to the time of counting of votes. Nath said that the work of filing nomination for the election has been completed. Majority of candidates have been given the B-form and only some are left. All the election in-charge should apprise the candidates of technical aspects of the election and should ensure that there is no technical error in filing of nomination.

He said that there are 10 aspirants for party ticket from every ward and those who are active in their respective area have a right to ask for a ticket but tickets can only be given to one person. The party workers who get disappointed on not getting a ticket should be motivated to work for the party with enthusiasm and party leaders have this responsibility. Those who have not got a ticket today, would be given other responsibilities tomorrow, he said.

He said that party organisation plays the most crucial role in winning the election and Congress organisation will contest the local bodies' election strongly and win them all over the state.
