BHOPAL: If all of Bhopal is determined, then no one can stop the Madhya Pradesh capital from being a top performing city in Swachh Bharat mission rankings, said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, here on Wednesday.
Chouhan was speaking at a Swachhta Sanvaad (cleanliness dialogue) programme here on Wednesday. He also led a roadshow to coincide with opening of a new flyover in Kolar, which would provide an alternate route to around three lakh people to reach Shahpura. It would connect colonies including Nayapura, Danishkunj, Vineet Kunj, Lalita Nagar to get an alternate route to touch Shahpura and beyond. The flyover is over Kaliasot, that would reduce a large number of traffic taking a route via main Kolar road.
The bridge, which is 12 m wide and 75 metres long, has been constructed by the CPA (Capital Project Administration). It has been built at a cost of Rs.5.90 crore.
“Indore is number one in cleanliness. We in Bhopal should compete positively. Along with cleanliness, plantations should also take place to protect the environment,” said Chouhan.
“I congratulate the people of Bhopal that you have converted waste landfill into a tourist destination by reclaiming it. When such a unique work can take place in Bhopal then the city should also do better in the field of cleanliness and environmental protection,” he added. Reclaiming of 36-acres of landfill at Bhanpur is being cited as major accomplishment by SBM and environmental groups.
The resident’s associations, traders’ associations and others who will contribute towards cleanliness and help Bhopal gain a top position, will be given cash rewards for their achievements, he added.
