Bhopal: Jabs on the go to speed up vaccination drive

BHOPAL: Bhopal on Monday became the first district in the state to start mobile vaccination vans. District collector Avinash Lavania flagged off two vans from the district collectorate for vaccination of people, who may be finding it difficult to visit a vaccination centre for taking vaccines. The mobile vans vaccinated 90 persons on Monday in wards no. 15 & 17.

Talking about the initiative, Lavania said that mobile vans equipped with vaccine kits and vaccination staff would go to different localities in the city and administer vaccines to people, who may have difficulty in reaching the vaccination centres to take the vaccine. “Since we are aiming at 100 percent vaccination, we can't afford to leave out anyone. There may be groups of people- elderly persons, disabled, pregnant women and more, who may not be finding it difficult to go to a vaccination centre and get inoculated. This facility is for them. The mobile vans will go to different areas and hold special camps for vaccination,” said Lavania.

Though there was some confusion after the flagging off the vans as to where they should be dispatched in the absence of online bookings or assembly of people at a place for vaccination but later, the vans were sent to ward 15 and 17, where they administered vaccine to 90 people on the first day.

District administration spokesperson Arun Rathore said that the vaccination work done by the mobile vans would be offline, the vans will go to a locality and solicit people for vaccination, particularly those who are in their target groups.
