BHOPAL: Two unidentified accused allegedly attempted to break into an ATM of a nationalised bank located on Chhola Road in Hanumanganj locality two days back.
The accused broke the cash dispatch shutter of the machine using an iron tool due to which the ATM went out of order and their bid was foiled. Hanumanganj police acting on a complaint filed by the bank manager on Sunday registered a case on charges of attempt to commit theft against the unidentified accused and launched a manhunt to nab them.
Investigating officer ASI Satendra Choubey said that complainant Abhishek Bhatania is manager at a nationalised bank having its branch on Chhola Road near Nadra Bus Stand in Hanumanganj. He told police that on November 13, around 7.30pm, he received a message that one of the three ATMs located beside the bank went out of order. When he went to check, he found that the cash dispatch shutter of the ATM was damaged. When he checked the CCTV recordings, he found that two unidentified youths entered the ATM and one of them inserted an ATM card to withdraw money. In the meantime, the accused took out an iron tool from his pocket and inserted it into the cash dispatch shutter. The other accused kept a watch on the other people coming to withdraw money from the other two ATMs. They stayed in the ATM for long but failed to siphon money as the ATM went out of order automatically.
ASI Choubey said that police have recovered the footage in which the accused were seen. The details of the ATM card which they inserted to withdraw money was also provided to the police. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case against the unidentified accused and search was on to nab them.
