BHOPAL: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a friend on the pretext of marriage for around a year in Kolar.
A few days back, the accused returned to his home in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh by telling the survivor that he was going to take permission of their marriage from parents and then blocked all contacts with her. Feeling cheated, the girl approached Kolar police station on Tuesday to lodge a complaint.
Police said that the survivor stated in her complaint that around two years back she came in contact with accused Preetam Yadav, who hails from Raibareli, Uttar Pradesh, through their common friend. The accused befriended her and on February 2020, he proposed her for marriage. After a month, he allegedly outraged her modesty.
Police said that since then accused was repeatedly raping her and whenever she asked accused to marry her, he used to made excuses. On June 21, when she pressurised accused to keep his promise of marriage, he returned home on the pretext of consulting with his parents. Since then, the accused switched off his mobile phone and when she tried to contact his parents, they refused to entertain her. Left with no option, she decided to lodge a complaint.
