BHOPAL: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly harassed on social media and was pressurised to enter into a physical relationship by her friend in Shahpura locality. Fed-up of the fourmonth long harassment, the girl finally gained courage and narrated the incident to her parents on Saturday.
Investigating officer SI Mona Jadon said that the survivor in her complaint told police that in 2018 she came in contact with accused Rohit, her distant relative, at a marriage function. After completing his engineering course from Bhopal in 2019, the accused returned to his native home.
SI Jadon said the girl alleged that when she observed that the accused used to talk with her in inebriated condition, she decided to break friendship but accused threatened to end his life if she dared to think about it. Due to fear, she did not break contact but for the past five to six months, he started pressuring her to enter into a physical relationship with him and also said he would marry her.
“When girl denied and stopped talking, he started sending her obscene messages and misbehaved with her over phone calls since June 2021. Initially, she tried to counsel the accused but when the accused kept repeating his acts, she finally informed her parents,” said SI Jadon adding that acting on her complaint, a case of sexual harassment has been registered against the accused and efforts are underway to nab him.
