Bhopal: 14-year-old’s statement recorded in Misrod ‘family suicide pact’

BHOPAL: Three days after the Misrod ‘suicide pact’ case, the statements of the 14-year-old girl, who survived after the incident, were recorded on Tuesday.

The girl, Gunjan Thakre, told the officials that her father fed them some tablets which made them fall unconscious.

When she regained consciousness she found that her elder brother lying dead on the bed with his throat slit. She had also suffered a cut on the throat, while her father was lying dead beside her.

The doctors are still treating the girl, said police.

SHO Misrod Niranjan Sharma said that Naib Tehsildar Neelam Parsariya recorded the statements of Gunjan at Hamidia Hospital. The statements of her mother Ranjana Thakre were already recorded on Monday.

On August 28, 56-yearold unemployed civil engineer Ravi Thakre consumed poison along his wife Ranjana at their flat in Sahara Estate Colony.

When Ranjana fell unconscious, Ravi slit the throat of their 16-year-old son Chirag and 14-year-old daughter Gunjan with a floor-tiles cutter machine, while they were sleeping. Ravi had fed some pills to the children, due to which, they did not wake up.

The son died on the spot while at the time when he was slitting the daughter’s throat the tiles cutter machine broke. Ravi and his son died on the spot, while his wife Ranjana went out and informed the neighbours about the incident.

Misrod police rushed to the spot on getting information from neighbours and rushed the woman and her daughter to a hospital, where they were undergoing treatment.
