Bharat Jodo Yatra is above politics and meant to unite hearts: Rajni Patil

JAMMU: Appealing all like minded forces, groups and individuals to join the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', All India Congress Committee (AICC) incharge JK affairs and Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Rajni Patil on Saturday said that it is above politics and meant to unite hearts.

Addressing media persons Rajni Patil said that the Yatra has nothing to do with politics and the party is not evaluating its political benefits buy Rahul Gandhi is leading the Yatra for uniting the people and strengthen the message of unity in diversity besides understanding the problems, sufferings and aspirations of different sections of the society."

"In the post-independence period, this is the unique and historical initiative of the Congress party led by Rahul Gandhi," Patil said between the course of a series of preparatory meetings for the upcoming Bharat jodo Yatra held on Saturday.

Accompanied by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Vikar Rasool Wani, AICC Jt Secretary Manoj Yadav, former PCC President G A Mir, Working President Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma Chief spokesperson PCC, she said, "This phase of Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir would be most significant for various reasons since it is very close to the heart of Congress and Gandhi family and Rahul Gandhi would like to send an important message to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country through this yatra."

She said that people anxiously wait for the Yatra and we have positive message from different quarters of Jammu and Kashmir and hoped that people of all walks would welcome and join the same.

She appealed to all like minded forces, groups, NGOs, and individuals and other suffering sections to welcome and join to send a message of unity, brotherhood, harmony and strength of togetherness from the soil of Jammu and Kashmir.

About Yatra's entry, Patil said that it is expected to enter in the third week of January from Lakhanpur, for which different committees and groups would be constituted.

"A rousing reception awaits Bharat jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir and there is great enthusiasm amongst people since the UT has suffered the most and lost its identity, status and rights of a historical state of the country, apart from record unemployment and recruitment scams," she said.

Earlier she chaired a meeting of Senior leaders including Ex Legislators, in the morning which lasted for three hours.

She also separately interacted with Senior PCC leaders, District Presidents, corporators, heads of frontal organizations and cells to seek their suggestions and give guidance in the matter.
