BGT winner Jon Courtenay unveils runner-up choir Sign Along With Us' unforgettable gesture

Jon Courtenay was crowned Britain's Got Talent 's 2020 winner on Saturday.

And the comic singer appeared on Monday's This Morning to chat with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about winning the ITV talent show.

During the interview, the overjoyed star shared on a special moment that happened upon him returning to his hotel after the BGT final wrapped on Saturday night.

Jon detailed that when he got back to the venue he was greeted by choir Sign Along With Us - who placed second in the competition- and he was left overwhelmed when they burst into song as they celebrated his win.

The BGT champion told Holly and Phil: "I got back to the hotel and heard a big cheer.

"I looked in and glass doors opened and the choir broke out to singing This Is Me - which was their audition song!"

Proving he was touched by the gesture, Jon added: "I was a wreck, what a thing to do, incredible."

Jon beat nine other acts in the spectacular final that aired on ITV on Saturday night,

Asked how he felt, after Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly announced his win, Jon stammered: "I was trying not to think about it, because I am really bad at hiding disappointment.

"This morning for the first time, this sounds really dramatic, but I woke up with an idea for a song for the Royal Variety performance.

"I wrote it down and I tried not to think of it as a sign, because that would be too much pressure, but... Just amazing, I can't actually believe it," he gushed.

"Thank you, this has changed my life and my family's life," he added.
