BGT winner Axel Blake addresses fix claims as he defends his Amazon Prime show

Britain's Got Talent winner Axel Blake has addressed claims that his appearance on the ITV reality show was a fix.

The 33-year-old comedian was crowned the winner of this year's series after wowing the judges, including Simon Cowell, with his stand up routines.

However, Axel was hit by fix claims after it emerged that he has his very own show on Amazon Prime.

Appearing on Monday's Lorraine, Axel decided to speak up about the accusations and revealed that he actually funded the show himself.

Host Lorraine Kelly asked Axel about the comedy special, with the funnyman deciding to set the record straight.

"I put that show on myself," he said of the filmed London special.

"I put my money where my mouth is and I achieved that, but it didn’t…. It looks like, 'Oh my gosh, it’s Amazon Prime', but if they saw the back end, it didn’t look like that financially, a lot of stress…

"I had to borrow from other people, to say, 'Listen, I need to do something, I’ve already put the deposit down and stuff…' Then after that, Amazon picked it up. So it wasn’t for Amazon Prime. I didn’t know they were going to pick it up. That was like a year later," Axel added.

Following Sunday's final, viewers rushed to social media to fume over the result, insisting there were other more deserving winners.

"Adele might as well audition next year. What an absolute load of rubbish. Congratulations to the already established, millionaire comedian (who isn't actually funny) #Fix #BGT," one angry fan penned.

A second added: "Absolute fix this the bloke has a series on Amazon Prime. Feel bad for the young chicken lad he deserved it."

"I'm sorry but the guy with his own show on prime wins over the little kid who actually has a talent that not many people in the industry has nowadays what a fix #bgt #JamieAndChuck," a third shared.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and ITV Hub.
