BGT starts with touching NHS tribute - while David Walliams shouts at kids

Britain's Got Talent is finally back on our screens tonight - and begins with a very touching tribute to the nation.

It's time to get ready for a fresh batch of incredible talent to hit the stage as the ITV show celebrates the best of British.

Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has seen the UK go into lockdown, BGT is back to bring smiles to our faces.

And there is even a lovely nod to the hard work our NHS workers are doing during a poignant opening video clip.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly declare their love for Britain as they walk through the countryside.

"Britain, we love you," confesses Ant, while Dec adds: "And we love everything about you."

The pair then have a surprised look on their faces as a juggler walks past.

A series of clips shows Brits across the nation celebrating their talents - with a pair of nurses sharing a cup of tea and reminding us to "stick together".

Amanda Holden then admits "us Brits love a cup of tea" as she joins some ladies for a lovely cuppa and biscuit.

While David Walliams is bizarrely dressed as a lollipop lady with a fetching wig that makes him look like a Little Britain character.

"Being British means looking out for one another," says David, before he yells "stop running" at some children crossing the road.

Simon loves to read his own book (ITV)

Simon says we Brits love to sit down and read a really good book as he picks up a copy of one of David's children's stories.

"This is absolute junk," scoffs Simon as he tosses David's book away.

Picking up a copy of his own autobiography, Simon adds: "This is more like it."

The emotional video ends with Ant and Dec declaring: "Above all else we love the fact Britain's Got Talent."

*Britain's Got Talent airs Saturdays on ITV at 8pm
