The reigning winner of Britain's Got Talent, Jon Courtenay, made a jibe about Boris Johnson and the infamous 'garden party' when he performed on the show this evening.
The singer, 49, returned to the ITV show tonight for the latest semi-final, with him taking to the stage alongside other former winners for a Platinum Jubilee celebration.
He opened the special performance - which saw acts from previous series' mark the occasion - with a song that listed different things of relevance to the British public.
It included a jibe about the Prime Minister and his peers, with Courtenay singing: "We love a garden party, but not at No. 10." He followed the remark by saying: "Grrr."
The line was seemingly in reference to the gathering in the garden of 10 Downing Street in May 2020, which has drawn criticism because Covid rules at the time didn't allow such.
Backlash over the gathering at the official residence of the Prime Minister prompted Johnson to later apologise for his attendance, saying he thought it was a "work event ".
And in an interview with Sky News this year, the politician said he hadn't been aware that it was "against the rules" - but apologised for any "misjudgements" in the pandemic.
Courtenay won the fourteenth series of Britain's Got Talent which aired in 2020 - so he's the reigning champion because the show wasn't on last year due to the pandemic.
The comedy singer had received a golden buzzer from Ant and Dec in response to his audition for the show, prior to be declared the winner of the series in the final.
His successor as winner of the ITV talent show is set to be announced in the upcoming final over the weekend, following the last semi-final which aired earlier this evening.
Finalists in the running to be crowned the next winner include stand-up comedian Axel Blake, singer Loren Allred, dance act 5 Star Boys as well as impressionist Ben Nickless.
