BGT's Ian Royce told fans he was 'surprised to be alive' two weeks before death

Britain's Got Talent star Ian Royce said he was "surprised to be alive" in a haunting post weeks before his death.

The 51-year-old comedy act's family revealed on September 1 that the star had tragically died from severe pneumonia and multiple organ failure.

Just two weeks before his passing, Ian shared a post on his Twitter page where he relayed the cryptic message to his 68,800 followers.

The quote read: "Sometimes, I look back on my life and I am seriously impressed that I am still alive."

He shared the message alongside a caption in which he penned: "Book soon... Then you can decide..."

Beneath the post, several of Ian's followers shared their support for the star and expressed excitement for his upcoming book.

A slew of moving tributes have flooded in for the star as the showbiz world reeled from news of his tragic death.

His daughter shared the heartbreaking announcement on his official Twitter page earlier this week.

She explained that the warm-up act for Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor had been surrounded by family and wasn't in pain.

The statement read: "It is with our greatest regret that that Ian has passed away today from severe pneumonia and multiple organ failure.

"He was in no pain but surrounded by friends and family. He put up a good fight but is in a better place now. Roxanne x."

The post was inundated with messages from his celebrity pals, including Ant & Dec, Laura Whitmore and Ben Shephard.

Last year, Ian checked into rehab to battle his sex and alcohol addiction.

He received treatment at The Priory, and the bill was partly footed by his showbiz pals including Ant & Dec, Simon Cowell, Olly Murs and Robbie Williams.

During his recovery, he credited his girlfriend and pals with "saving [his] life" thanks to their support.
