BGT's Amanda Holden vows NOT to cover up after record-breaking Ofcom complaints

Amanda Holden sparked hundreds of complaints after she wore a risqué outfit on Britain's Got Talent.

The radio and TV presenter is known for her bold fashion choices but many viewers found one particular dress 'unsuitable' for the ITV show.

The mum of two, 52, has declared the show as the perfect chance to "take risks" with her look.

Amanda has also bashed the phrase "dressing for your age" as she takes fashion inspiration from the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Kylie Minogue.

She said: "Times have changed and I don’t feel anyone should feel pressure to dress for your age. It’s all about body positivity and feeling good."

Amanda's £11,000 sheer black sparkly gown saw 663 Ofcom complaints back in 2017 due to its plunging neckline.

She wowed in the Julien MacDonald number, which saw most of her chest and stomach exposed.

Yet many viewers didn't appreciate the look as they filed a record-breaking number of complaints.

At the time Amanda refused to pay any attention to the negative comments, saying: "That dress was hysterical – it was Julien MacDonald. I had bits of fish wire underneath my breasts trying to hold that together.

"But, look, I'm from a small-chest family, plus you know I'm 48 years old.

"It's all quite laughable, but all everyone seems to talk about. It's been called another national crisis – but, oh no, I will not be covered up."

Back in 2017, one furious fan tweeted: "So Amanda is effectively topless on Britain's Got Talent", while another said it was "totally NOT suitable". Ofcom decided not to investigate the complaints.

It was not the only dress of Amanda's that saw complaints fly in as a black dress with a slit to the thigh and a corset style bustier top with one sleeve prompted 136 complaints.

In 2020, some fans thought they could see Amanda’s nipples out the top of her dress when she wore a navy Celia Kritharioti off-the-shoulder dress with a V-neckline.

This prompted another 235 viewer complaints to Ofcom.

Yet all the fuss hasn't stopped the Britain's Got Talent judge, as she vowed to up the ante during the latest series.

In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, she said: “I am thinking more rubber. I enjoyed wearing latex in the audition and I am thinking more latex in their lives. More latex and more sweating!”

Despite the controversy, Amanda has never been censored by Ofcom or ITV, which airs Britain’s Got Talent.

Speaking at Britain's Got Talent Q&A ahead of the new series premiere, she quipped: "It's like the problem is everyone talking about my t*ts, while these two all the time... (Bruno and Simon Cowell ).

"[Simon's] shirt's always undone and [Bruno's] stripping off. No Ofcom complaints about me this year, please."

New judge Bruno Tonioli was gobsmacked at the idea of Amanda receiving complaints and said: "If you got it flaunt it and you girls [Amanda and Alesha Dixon ] got it. I don't understand this complaining, what is the problem?"

Amanda hit back: "It's nothing, people have too much time on their hands."
