BGT judges celebrate Thanksgiving without David Walliams as he's 'set to quit show'

Amanda Holden has shared snaps celebrating Thanksgiving with her fellow Britain's Got Talent judges - except David Walliams.

Holden shared a carousel of snaps to her Instagram story on Sunday, which show her posing with Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell smiling as they spent the occasion together on Thursday. The 51 year-old was noticeably absent from the event.

Earlier this week, a source close to Walliams suggested that he would be quitting his role as the fourth judge on the show ahead of its 2023 run allegedly due to "vile" comments he made about contestants that were leaked online - which he has since apologised for.

Cowell's fiancée Lauren Silverman was also pictured at the holiday meal beside pals Amanda and Alesha. The judges spent the day with a host of friends and family.

Back in 2020, 51 year-old Walliams was recorded saying several insults while hosting BGT auditions at the London Palladium. Leaked transcripts from the ITV programme revealed that Walliams called a pensioner a "c**t" and made sexual comments about a female participant.

"David has decided to bow out after a ten-year run. He wants to leave on a high after a wonderful time," the source told the Sun.

"Being on the show has been a huge source of entertainment and joy for him and he is arguably the most popular member of the panel."

While this is yet to be officially confirmed, the fate of the show hangs in the balance, as calls have been made for Walliams to leave the show.

At the time of the incident, an older contestant made a joke about Walliams while engaging in back and forth banter. After his audition, the pensioner left, at which point Walliams is said to have called him a "c***" three times.

Recordings which were picked up by shows microphones also recorded David making derogatory comments about a woman at the same audition.

After she walked off stage, he said: "She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t… It’s the last thing on your mind, but she’s like, “Yep, I bet you do!”"

Despite his absence, Holden has come out in support of her fellow judge, saying that she is "team David" in a Good Morning Britain interview earlier this week.

"I would like to see the judging panel look like it did before. I think we're a great team, we're a family," she said.

Cowell on the other hand, was less supportive when asked about the situation in an interview with the Daily Star. Simon responded: "Can we not go there? If you don't mind."

Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon has yet to comment on the incident.
