BGT horror as Jonathan Goodwin is set on fire - and he has dramatic TV past

Britain's Got Talent viewers will be horrified tonight when an escapologist is set on fire.

Jonathan Goodwin puts on a strait jacket before being suspended upside down.

Putting a deadly twist on a Harold Houdini trick, he says: "I'm going to kick it up a notch. Tonight it won't be the rope that's on fire. It will be me."

The BGT judges watch through their fingers and the medics are on standby as the Welsh daredevil is set alight.

But this isn't the first time he has given a death-defying performance in front of the cameras.

The dangerman has performed on every continet, except Antartica, and has an extensive former client list.

Jonathan has already appeared before Simon as a guest performer on America's Got Talent.

He is no stranger to British TV, as she was in Channel 4's Dirty Trick, Discovery Channel's One Way Out and Balls Of Steel.

The jaw-dropping performer also had his own TV series, Dangerman, which aired on BBC America and around the world.

The escapologist was interviewed by Jonathan Ross on his ITV show back in 2013.

He risked his safety by lying on a single nail while a breezeblock was broken on his chest with a sledgehammer.

In 2015, he was the first ever stunt performer to do shows in London’s West End and Broadway in the same year.

Jonathan repeated this in 2016, performing seasons at both the Noel Coward Theatre in London and The Palace Theatre Broadway NYC.

Jonathan managed to survive those deadly routines - but could he have gone too far on Britain's Got Talent?

He is doused in fuel all over his body, including his face, before a burning torch lights him up.

"He is nuts," cries Simon Cowell as the magician desperately tries to escape from the jacket.

While the audience screams, terrified Amanda Holden says: "You can feel the heat."

Jonathan writhes around as he attempts to free his arms before the flames engulf him.

With the clock ticking, everyone fears that Jonathan might not make it out alive.

The fire extinguisher, which has been raised up with Jonathan, is tantalisingly close but his arms are trapped.

Will Jonathan escape? And impress the judges enough to make the next round?
