BGT fans touched after spotting blind singing contestant's crying brother in audience

Britain's Got Talent viewers were left incredibly touched tonight after spotting the brother of talented blind singing contestant Sirine Jahangir crying in the audience.

The 14-year-old from London, who lost her sight aged nine, was guided onto the stage by Ant McPartlin.

Her hauntingly beautiful rendition of Gabrielle Aplin's Salvation, which she both played the piano and sang to, had the audience and judges on their feet.

But none were more moved by her performance than her younger brother, who was left in floods of tears as he listened to her sing.

Viewers flocked to Twitter to comment, with one tweeting: "Oh look how proud her little brother is of his sister. How lovely. Very talented young girl. #BGT"

Sirine and her parents first realised that she had a serious eyesight problem when she was five and dressed as a pirate.

When her eye patch covered her right eye, she couldn't see because all of her vision had gone from the left eye.

Despite a number of agonising medical procedures, Sirine lost the eye sight in her right eye four years later.

Yet Sirine told the Daily Mirror that she likes to think she got "new gifts" when she lost her eyesight.

She said: "I used to like dancing, but when I became blind I spent more time singing and playing piano.

“So although I was trembling with nerves when my dad walked me on the BGT stage, I just hope I can prove to other visually impaired people they don’t need to give up their dreams.”
