BGT fans slam social distancing measures as Amanda Holden touches drag queen

Britain's Got Talent viewers have vented their disappointment at Britain's Got Talent seemingly breaking social distancing mesasures.

Fans took to Twitter during the latest semi-final to express their outrage as Amanda Holden and drag act Myra DuBois got very close during their surprise singalong.

Midway through her routine, Myra pulled Amanda up from the judging panel to join her for a duet.

"You're not just a judge you're a singer and people forget. But the brain does block out trauma," quipped Myra as Amanda shimmied her way on to the stage in her form fitting mini dress.

The pair then gave a rendition of Elaine Page and Barbara Dickson's I Know Him So Well, which Amanda has covered with Sheridan Smith on her new album, Songs From My Heart.

But while Amanda and Myra appeared to be sat the required 2metres apart, as the song progressed the pair got up from their chairs and pretended to outdo each other by fighting to be in front of the camera.

The jostling led to the pair getting very close, with Amanda hitting Myra with her microphone at one point.

Some viewers expressed their annoyance at the scenes, given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"How can #bgt make a point out of social distancing and then on the first act @AmandaHolden and the act up close and no distancing?" cried one.

"Not sure social distancing is being followed on BGT," added another.

"No social distancing there on #bgt Literally touching each other Amanda & the drag queen!" complained a third.

At the start of the semi-final, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly talked viewers through the ways ITV have made sure Britain's Got Talent was keeping to government guidelines.

These measures included having the judges' chairs spaced out, some acts performing remotely and banning a live audience from the studio.

Hosts Ant and Dec are not social distancing because they have formed a 'cohort' during the live run of shows.

The pair are getting tested for Covid-19 every four days to ensure they can continue safely working together in close proximity.

The latest complaints is the latest viewer grievances being shared after thousands complained to Ofcom about a Black Lives Matter inspired routine from Diversity earlier this month.
