BGT fans slam show a 'fix' as famous singer bags first Golden Buzzer of the series

Britain's Got Talent fans have slammed the show as a 'fix' after a famous singer bagged the first Golden Buzzer of the series.

The ITV talent show - featuring Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams and hosted by Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly - returned tonight after a two year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A number of acts took to the stage including a dancing robot, a group of young scooter enthusiasts as well as some singers and a special Golden Moment, where Nick Edwards from Doncaster was surprised with an audition by his family.

However, it was the final performance of the night that created the most controversy for viewers at home, as the Golden Buzzer was given out by Amanda Holden for a stunning performance of Never Enough.

It was revealed on the show tonight that it was Loren Allred who was performing, who fans may now as the singer behind the huge hit from The Greatest Showman, which also stars Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Zendaya.

The Greatest Showman was a huge hit globally, and whilst Loren doesn't appear in the movie, she did do the vocals for the iconic performance of the hit track, with the part played by actress Rebecca Ferguson, who stars as opera singer Jenny Lind.

Fans of the ITV talent show took to Twitter to vent their frustrations as Amanda pressed her Golden Buzzer.

"Hold up... This woman is the actual singer that sung never enough from the greatest showman. That's cheating ... That's unfair .... #BGT," one wrote, as another added: "what a bloody fix !!! Gold button s****."

A second shared: "I thought #BGT, was about discovering new talent?! what a fix!"

Whilst a third penned: "How is that fair at all sorry??? Amanda’s just said it’s her moment to shine, Amanda she’s already sang a song for a huge musical film This seriously isn’t fair #BGT."

As she headed onto the iconic stage at the London Palladium, Loren introduced herself and explained what she was doing on the show. "I think some of you might have heard my voice, but you won't know my face," she told the audience.

There were shocked faces from the judges as Loren revealed her true identity and explained she was more "comfortable singing behind the scenes" and so had never decided to make it, but wanted to give it a go now.

"I feel kind of like the song was meant for me and I'm ready to put a face to the song, so I'm here to do that," she said as she burst into a beautiful rendition of the hit track from the movie musical.

*Britain’s Got Talent continues this Sunday at 19:35 on ITV and ITV Hub.
