BGT fans slam judges for cheering on straw-playing act but not 'real talent'

Britain's Got Talent fans are a passionate lot.

Tonight's show saw them baffled as the judges poured praise on a man who plays the straw, after last week they controversially turned down an opera singer.

Music teacher Hasan Manawi came on stage tonight in front of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams - and announced he would play them some music.

He followed by producing a straw and busting out some tunes, including some Celine Dion.

The judges gave him four thumbs up - but fans took to Twitter to question the decision, especially after opera singer Alexey Gusev only made it through last week by the skin of his teeth.

Simon and Alesha both slammed their buzzers, but Alesha was persuaded to change her mind at the last, sending Alexey through.

One fan wrote: "So Alesha Dixon s*****d off an opera singer last week, and gave a standing ovation to a bloke playing the straw this week?"

Another just penned: "Straws?!?!"

A third laughed: "wtf was he playing a straw...it was actually ok to be fair."

Others were completely on board, one tweeting: "I gotta admit it...he plays the straw good."

Another gushed: "Go straw guy, go! Awesome."

A third fawned: "I loved the straw man's act!"
