BGT child star Jonathan Lutwyche's grown-up look six years after TV appearance

Jonathan Lutwyche was only 15 years old when he won over the judges on Britain's Got Talent.

He took to the stage to perform several breathtaking contemporary dance routines when competing in Series 9 of Britain’s Got Talent and he made it to the semi-finals.

And now, six years on from his time on the series, talented Jonathan is now starring in The Lion King in the West End and he is unrecognisable from his BGT audition.

The performer has shaved off his curls in favour of a buzz cut and has transformed his frame and boasts an impressive frame and bulging muscles.

Winning the role was Gibraltarian Jonathan's West End debut performing as part of the ensemble.

Posting the news on his FaceBook page, he shared at the time: "Forever grateful to debut as a professional dancer with such an amazing musical."

Jonathan trained at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City and at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London.

In May, he told the Gibraltar Chronicle of his joy at being cast in the Disney musical.

"I’m extremely grateful to be given this opportunity. There were hundreds of people auditioning for the same spot and to be chosen is an honour,” he shared.

“I’m proud of myself for achieving this and it really feels like the last five years of my life, training where I have been away from family and friends, has all been worth it," he added.

In 2015, the BGT judges lavished praise on Jonathan when he took to the stage for the first time.

Amanda Holden said: "I can honestly say I've never seen anything so beautiful and heartfelt. I think the Royal Family and the British public would really enjoy that. Well done."

David Walliams said that the performance impressed him because of its emotional depth.

He said: "I loved it, I thought it was really beautiful what you did. For me it really stood out because it was very emotional. It felt like you'd really looked deep inside yourself and you were expressing yourself through dance."

Alesha Dixon added: "That is how you do it. That was so stunning. The way your body moves is absolutely beautiful to watch. You put your heart and soul into it.

"It was passionate, and those backflips, you did it like it was nothing. I think you have an incredible future in the world of dance. Amazing."

Simon Cowell said that he wasn't really a fan of contemporary dance, but in his case, he was easy to judge.

He added: "I've got to be honest with you Jonathan, I'm not really a fan of this kind of stuff but when you actually meet someone like yourself who is just brilliant, then it's easy to judge because you are fantastic."
