BGC manufacturing facelift paves way for Smart Industry 4.0

BG Container Glass Public Company Limited (BGC), one of Thailand’s largest comprehensive packaging producers, moves forward to leverage holistic packaging industry with applied innovations and technologies in its manufacturing process in order to achieve Smart Factory 4.0 goal with aims to continue reaching the global arena.

As BGC values the efficient manufacturing process development to leverage quality of production and the products, AI and Internet of Things (IoT) are therefore brought in as a solution for factory management involving quality, accuracy, cost management, and enhanced efficient system.

The manufacturing revolution has been undertaken the adoption of oxygen sensor technology as one of the systems to monitor the combustion efficiency in the glass bottle manufacturing process at the glass melting furnace and the glass trough. The technology helps controlling gas level in the meting furnace, distributing steady heat level, mitigating manufacturing resources as well as pollution caused by incomplete fuel combustion that leads to climate change.

Other innovation namely Automatic Mold Swabbing System is combined to support glass packaging production line capacity. The technology generates the precise swab, enabling reduction of wastes caused by uneven oil volumes to deliver the finished glass products with crystalising and smooth surface.

The Plunger Process Control System is another solution designed to support Narrow Neck Press & Blow (NNPB) glass manufacturing where glass weight control accuracy is the focal point.

Furthermore, BGC in collaboration with BUCHER Emhart Glass, the world's leading glass bottle machine manufacturer from Germany, is established to increase production efficiency as well as exchanging knowledge in production technology with personnel as well.

Another BGC mission is to conduct business development with environmental inclusiveness involving reduced natural resources manufacturing process, new eco-friendly packaging development, and the development of work processes in accordance with the Sustainable Business Policy (ESG).

BGC has recently signed the MoU with Bangkok Komatsu Forklift Co., Ltd., the 28-year partnership with mutual purpose to embed clean energy technology to the development of the Electric Forklift to increase efficiency in proactive manufacturing process for comprehensive packaging production.

Moreover, Thailand’s first Autonomous Tow Truck or a tow tuck without a driver is underway in experimental phase before using to deliver goods from production base to the warehouse with 100% electricity energy enabling efficiency and environmental-friendly.

In addition to leading the industry with innovation and technology development in the production process, BGC is also committed to creating products and innovations to meet the needs of the changing era. Technology and Innovation Center (TIC) is established for research and development for latest technology and innovation for new packaging discovery to create added-value for the products as well as responding to the market and facilitating end user.  This will be a part that drives BGC to develop into a Total Packaging Solutions according to the goals set.

With strategic planning and operation, BGC's Smart Factory 4.0 is moving forward to elevate production efficiency and product quality, leading to a smart industry expanding competitiveness and create endless business opportunities.
