'Beyond thankful': Ravens sign wide receiver Dez Bryant to 53-man roster

BALTIMORE — A week after Dez Bryant saw his first extended work for the Ravens, the team signed the veteran wide receiver to its 53-man roster Saturday.

"Officially signed to the 53 ... beyond thankful," Bryant wrote on Twitter above a photograph of himself with a completed contract.

The move was a milestone for the 32-year-old receiver, who had not played in an NFL game since 2017 before the Ravens called him up for their Nov. 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He made three Pro Bowls and caught 73 touchdown passes in eight seasons for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Ravens signed Bryant to their practice squad in October and called him up for games against the Colts and Tennessee Titans. He played just two snaps against the Colts but played 35 and caught four passes on five targets in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans.

"We'll keep building on it and see where it goes," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said of Bryant's effort against the Titans. "I thought he made some good plays, especially one towards the end; that was a very valuable play for us, the catch-and-run on the last drive. (He) had a couple of look passes that he caught out there and got a few yards on. So, it's positive. There are a lot of things he can do better. He and I texted back and forth about those things this morning. So he's very determined to be the best player that he can be at this stage, and we appreciate that about him."
