Beyoncé wishes Kelly Rowland happy birthday with throwback images on Instagram

Beyoncé has shared a collection of throwback images to wish Destiny’s Child bandmate, Kelly Rowland, a happy birthday.

To celebrate Rowland turning 38 on Monday, Beyoncé  posted several nostalgic pictures of the pair together on Instagram.

The first is a black-and-white photo of Rowland as a schoolgirl, wearing a graduation cap, followed by an image of her and Beyoncé as teenagers eating what looks like chicken wings.

The duo are also captured in a professional shot wearing coordinating berets and in another where a smiling Rowland is being carried on the back of Beyoncé.

The Formation singer captioned the post: “Happy Birthday Kelly!“ alongside an elephant emoji, “I love you Deep Deep. BIG deep.”

She also referenced a song from the 1985 film The Colour Purple: ”Me and you, us never part, Makidada,” before adding: “Walking through them middle school hallways like ‘Rollin Rollin Rollin’.”

As expected, many fans reacted to the emotional post with affection, some wishing Rowland a happy birthday and others referring to the duo as “BFF goals”.

“Happy birthday Kelly. The best blessing you can have is a friend that feels closer than family,” one person wrote.

Another added: “Best friends rule.”

Rowland marked her birthday with a series of Instagram posts of her own, sharing three images of herself at the beach.

“I woke up this am feeling extremely blessed to see another year #grateful,” she wrote.

Rowland has previously spoken about the pair’s friendship, saying she attributes much of her successful career to the “power of female friendships”.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, she said: “It’s fun to have a really good group of chicks around that you can support on each other and love on each other.

“True friends fight when you need to and get back together when you need to”.

The friends met as young girls in Houston, Texas and went on to form Destiny’s Child - one of the biggest girl-groups of all-time.
