Beyoncé is to release her new album in 2016.

The R&B megastar has reportedly completed her sixth solo LP and wants to drop it on a surprise date, just like she did with her last self-titled studio collection.

The rumoured date for the album - and a world tour in support of the record - to be announced is February 7, the same day she is due to perform with Coldplay at the Super Bowl half-time show.

A source exclusively told The Sun newspaper: "Beyoncé has totally relaxed her schedule and pushed back her album, which is now complete and ready to go. It was wrapped up at the end of 2015 but she held off on a release ... Now Adele's sales are starting to die down, Beyoncé is ready to drop her album at any time. But there's a very strong chance the announcement could happen during the Super Bowl next month."

Beyoncé is believed to have worked with a host of big names on her LP, including Sia, Clean Bandit, Naughty Boy and Future.

As well as making her own album, the 34-year-old singer did feature on two songs, Hymn for the Weekend and Up&Up, on Coldplay's last album A Head Full of Dreams.

Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z are close friends with the band's frontman Chris Martin.
