Beyoncé is back for her second shot at the Super Bowl half-time show.
Pepsi – the show’s sponsor – confirmed to the Associated Press on Thursday that the 34-year-old singer will perform at the February 7 show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Last month, Coldplay announced they would perform at the show.
Beyonce headlined the 2013 Super Bowl half-time show in New Orleans at the Superdome, where she was joined by her Destiny Child’s bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Jay-Z did not appear with his wife on stage that year, despite initial reports that named him as a likely collaborator.
Katy Perry, who performed at last year’s Super Bowl, had the most-watched halftime show in history with 118 m viewers. Beyoncé’s 2013 effort drew 104m viewers. Other past half-time headliners include Bruno Mars, Prince, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, U2, the Rolling Stones, and – famously – Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake in 2004.
Coldplay will be the first rock band to headline the sponsored spectacle since The Who at Super Bowl XLIV in February 2010.
