Beyoncé's uncle dies aged 77 with mum Tina Knowles leading tributes to 'greatly loved' relative

Beyoncé’s beloved uncle Rowland Martin Buyince has died at age 77.

The 42-year-old superstar singer’s mother Tina Knowles, 70, confirmed the passing of Mr Buyince, known as “Butch”, in a statement online.

Taking to Instagram, Ms Knowles shared an old black and white photo of her sibling wearing Airforce uniform.

“My Beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend. I will miss him so much! He was a career Airforce man,” she wrote alongside the image to her four million followers on the platform.

“He loved riding motorcycles, was a black belt in karate and had the most beautiful green eyes and good looks,” she continued.

“He was a great story teller.

“He had an incredible wife Jeanette and devoted daughter Dana, two beautiful grandchildren Yvette and Roland. He was greatly loved.”

“Sail on ButchRowland Martin (Butch) Buyince’ June 1946 – Feb 2024 RIP,” she concluded.

Her friends and followers were quick to respond with messages of sympathy and condolence.

“Oh oh Ms Tina! Deepest Condolences to you and the entire family! Love you! The way you love on and support so many! Showering you with comfort and peace that passes all understanding,” wrote one person in the comments section.

“Rest Well to your gorgeous big bro…what a full life he lived…sending you and your family love…” penned another.

While a third added: “Sending prayers, love and light to you and yours.”

Elsewhere, Beyoncé recently became the first black woman to the top the US Billboard Country Music Song chart with latest single Texas Hold ’Em.

The track also stormed to the top of the UK singles chart giving the wife of Jay-Z her first UK number one in almost 14 years.
