Beyonce's Lion King album flops after being 'downloaded 949 times in five days'

Beyonce's Lion King album doesn't seem to have bitten fans quite as much as the hit film.

The superstar has shifted less than a thousand copies via download in its first five days in the UK.

Bey was paid a reported £25million to voice Nala in the remake, as well as record the official soundtrack and an album.

But only 949 fans have downloaded it as her take on the Disney classics appears to have flopped, according to The Sun .

It is another blow across the Atlantic for the American, 37. A year ago Everything Is Love - her album with husband Jay Z - reached a high of number five in the charts. It was her worst performing album even in the UK.

A source said: “Bosses did everything they could to get Beyonce on board because they know she is so loved.

“There has been a lot of buzz around the film and Beyonce’s involvement but her spin-off album has been massively disappointing.

“The Greatest Showman’s soundtrack was the biggest-selling album of 2018, and Disney had hoped that getting someone as huge as Beyonce to do an album like this could match its success.

"But her records clearly don’t have the pulling power they once did. For someone like Beyonce, who is seen as an unstoppable force in music.

"It’s remarkable that she is being beaten in the charts by an emerging talent like Freya.”

Jon Favreau's incredible remake of Disney's 1994 animated movie has smashed records.

The Lion King brought in an estimated $433million (around £346m) worldwide in box office sales across the globe.
