Beyoncé was forced to pause one of the shows on her ongoing Cowboy Carter Tour after the suspended car she was flying in above the crowd unexpectedly tilted mid-air.
The gut-wrenching moment was captured by fans who attended Beyoncé’s recent concert in her hometown of Houston, and shows the pop star encountering the technical issue during her performance of the Cowboy Carter single “16 CARRIAGES”.
In footage of the incident, Beyoncé is heard belting out the song while sitting in a red Cadillac car prop, which was suspended via cables and perused above the audience at NRG Stadium.
Mid-flight, Beyoncé stopped her performance of the track and yelled “Stop! Stop!” repeatedly, with concert-goers reporting on X the pause was due to the unexpected tilt of the car while the singer was still suspended in the air.
“Get her to the ground!”, fans can be heard yelling after the music cuts off and the crowd gasps.
According to one user, the malfunction occurred during the final act of Beyoncé’s show, with the tilt leaving her “nearly sideways” in the car as it was gradually lowered to the floor.
Thankfully, Beyoncé made it safely to the ground moments after pausing the show, with some reporting that the singer told the crowd “I knew y’all would catch me if I fell”.
Other concertgoers said that after making the descent, Beyoncé exited the car and walked back to the mainstage, where she finished her performance despite just enduring a near-death experience.
She is Queen B, after all!
Naturally, protective fans were quick to admonish whoever was behind the flying car stunt, one one saying the unlucky operator “better count their days”.
“Someone’s getting fired,” another added.
Other fans took to X to simply recall the harrowing near-miss, writing “my heart fell to my ass when Beyoncé started saying ‘stop stop stop’”.
I can’t tell you the feeling of relief that washed over me when I saw Beyoncé safely make it back to land, but I’m also feeling equally angry at whoever didn’t screw those damn cables tight enough.
