Beyonce breaks Grammys records as Taylor Swift makes history at 2021 awards

That's a wrap for another year at the Grammys on a night where Beyonce and Taylor Swift created a huge bit of history.

Queen Bey was the biggest winner of all as the Crazy In Love singer overtook country-bluegrass artist Alison Krauss as the female to win the most awards in the ceremony's 63-year history.

Only the late conductor Georg Solti is more decorated with 31 Grammy wins.

The 39-year-old had been nominated for awards in nine categories prior to the ceremony and walked away with four titles, taking her overall tally to 28.

She shared the prize of Best Rap Performance with Megan Thee Stallion as the pair made history of their own by becoming the first female duo to win the award.

The pair were presented the prize for their remix of the hit song Savage which also landed them Best Rap Song.

Megan was also named Best New Artist, becoming the first female rapper to do so since Lauryn Hill in 1999.

Then it was Taylor Swift's turn to make history as she became the first woman to ever win the Album of the Year on three occasions with her surprise album Folklore taking the plaudits.

Billie Eilish was also recognised when Everything I Wanted won record of the year.

The Song of the Year award was presented to H.E.R for I Can't Breathe.

The song was written in response to the Black Lives Matter protests in the United States last summer.

Elsewhere, the biggest British wins came from Harry Styles and Dua Lipa.

The former One Direction star won Best Pop Solo Performance for Watermelon Sugar while Dua Lipa won Best Pop Vocal Album for Future Nostalgia.

The award ceremony was hosted by Trevor Noah and took place in Los Angeles.

There was a far smaller crowd in attendance than usual and the ceremony was largely without the elaborate sets and special effects that would usually accompany it.
