'Bewildered!' Gary Neville provides damning assessment of Arsenal defender David Luiz

Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has hammered Arsenal defender David Luiz for his lack of impact at the Gunners this season.

Arsenal signed Luiz for £8m from Chelsea during the summer transfer window and he has featured regularly for the Gunners.

But Luiz has performed poorly much like the rest of the Arsenal defence, leading to plenty of criticism from fans and pundits alike.

Neville has been the latest to provide his slant on the enigmatic Brazilian, who he believes has not been up to scratch at the Emirates.

"David Luiz is a massive personality and character and I can see the positive of it from that side," Neville told Sky Sports.

"However, as a leader of a back four, when you think about the reliability aspect he is not going to give it to you.

"When I said uncoachable about Arsenal before, I see other teams that concede goals and there is an element of function to them in terms of their shape and organisation. I watch Arsenal and they do things that just make me bewildered. I've never seen that before.

"I thought he would bring some leadership, character and personality to this dressing room but he has not been able to have that impact."
