Betting suspended on Nottingham Forest manager search

Betting has been suspended betting on Nottingham Forest's manager search as Steve Cooper closed in on becoming Chris Hughton's successor at the City Ground.

Cooper had been priced at 1/20 to take the job this morning with the ex-Swansea boss the preferred choice by the Reds' hierarchy.

Forest are understood to have agreed a £1.2m compensation package for the 41-year-old who is technically still on gardening leave after leaving the Swans at the end of July.

And now in a significant development, Sky Bet are no longer taking bets on who will become the next Forest boss which could indicate an announcement will be made in the coming days.

Should Forest finally get their man, Cooper will inherit a team that is bottom of the Championship but recorded their first win of the season in the post-Hughton era with a 2-0 win at Huddersfield on Saturday.

Steven Reid, the interim manager, played a brave 3-4-3 formation which paid dividends as goals from Lewis Grabban and a Lee Nicholls own goal capped off a fine performance.
