Bookmakers have suspended betting on the new Dublin manager as Tommy Conroy was gambled down from 16/1 to 1/2 over the past few days.
Jim Gavin's replacement is set to be announced next weekend, and it appears that the St Vincent's boss is the man being backed by Dublin fans.
Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “The betting has been in favour of Dessie Farrell since the news broke of Jim Gavin’s departure, but it’s now in favour of Tommy Conroy.
"The former Dublin footballer has been slashed into 1/2 from 16/1 over the last few hours so we had to act fast by suspending the market”.
And a spokesperson from Paddy Power added: “Our shop staff in the capital could hardly keep up with the sudden surge in activity.
"But punters are very divided about whether it’s Cluxton or Conroy who might fill the gaping hole left by Jim Gavin.
"Someone knows something, and whatever the result, I’ve a 50-50 feeling we’ll be left singing the blues."
There are no shortage of names being bandied out with regard to who’ll succeed Jim Gavin as Dublin senior football manager.
Gavin announced that he was stepping down from the role on Saturday morning after leading his county to a historic five consecutive All-Ireland titles.
