Police release CCTV of man they want to speak to after betting shop knife raid

An investigation has been launched following a terrifying knife-point robbery at a betting shop in Cheshire .

Police were called to the Coral bookmakers in Broken Cross, Macclesfield , on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood a man walked into the shop just before 3pm.

He went over to the counter and threatened staff with the blade, demanding they hand over cash from the till.

The thug jumped over the counter and stole money before running from the shop along Princes Way.

He is then said to have got on a black TM mountain bike on Parkett Hayes Road before riding off along Earlsway.

Detectives on the case have since released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Anyone who recognises him, or has information regarding his identity or whereabouts, is urged to come forward.

They also want to speak to anyone who believes they have any other information, or CCTV or dashcam footage, that may aid their investigation.

Det Serg Angela Coppock, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said: "This was a terrifying incident for all those who were in the betting shop at the time of the robbery and we are determined to catch the offender and bring him to justice.

"As part of our enquiries we want to identify and speak to the man in the CCTV images.

"The same goes for anyone who has any other information, or CCTV or dashcam footage, that may help our investigation.

"I would also like to appeal directly to the man in the CCTV images to get in touch."
