Betting giant spits out full Championship table prediction with Leeds United's fate revealed

Leeds United have been backed to sit top of the table come the end of the season, gaining promotion along with this season's Championship title.

Betting company Sporting Index are predicting the Whites will secure a return to the Premier League by topping the Championship table with 80 points.

If Marcelo Bielsa's side was to claim the title with the number of points predicted by the spread betting firm, then they would be securing the championship with less points than what they accumulated last season.

After claiming a more than impressive 83 points at the end of the regular season, the Whites suffered heartbreak in the play-off semi-finals, after Derby County came from behind to secure a dramatic aggregate victory over Bielsa's side.

Leeds haven't featured in the England's top flight since suffering relegation at the end of the 2003/04 season - and are being predicted to pip Scott Parker's Fulham to the title by five points.

Cardiff City, Stoke City, Brentford and Bristol City are predicted to battle it out in the play-offs, while QPR, Charlton Athletic and Reading will all be relegated from the division.

Huddersfield Town, United's West Yorkshire neighbours, are predicted to finish on 68 points in eighth position.
