Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Emerson Royal from Barcelona on a five-year contract.
The Brazil right-back joins Spurs from Spanish giants Barcelona in a deal worth approximately €30million (£26.7million) and he has penned a five-year contract in north London.
Emerson, who will travel to England later this week and doesn't have to quarantine upon arrival, is to wear the number 12 shirt at Spurs.
Spurs fought off interest from their closest rivals Arsenal for his signature and will look to immediately integrate Emerson into the side.
Japhet Tanganga has started the season well at right-back, helping to keep clean sheets in all three of the club’s opening Premier League games.
However, as Emerson is the more natural full-back, he is likely to be involved pretty much from the get-go and looks a real talent.
Although the 22-year-old leaves Barcelona having made just three appearances for the club, he spent two and a half seasons at Real Betis, where he impressed.
Spurs fans are understandably excited by the signing, as seen on Twitter.
Emerson could make his debut for the club against Crystal Palace on September 11 – a game that he hopes will be the first of many.
