Arsenal youngster Marquinhos has made an instant impact on his debut for the club as he scored in the club's Europa League clash with FC Zurich. The Brazilian joined in the summer from Sao Paolo in a deal worth roughly £3million as the Gunners continue their pursuit of young talent.
Discussing the transfer, director Edu told the official club website: "We're delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we have been watching for a while. At 19, his is still very young, so he is a player for the future. We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us."
The 19-year-old was given some game time in pre-season, but is yet to start in the Premier League as he continues his development towards first-team football. He was, however, given the chance to impress in Switzerland against FC Zurich in the Europa League.
