Better justice in Belarus: Porsche driver

Richard Pusey has withdrawn a bail application, claiming he'd get better justice in Belarus. (AAP)

Porsche driver Richard Pusey damaged a Victorian prison camera during a court hearing after dramatically declaring he'd get better justice in Belarus.

The 42-year-old was jailed for 10 months - mostly time already served in custody - in April for filming officers who died after being hit by a truck while pulling over his Porsche on Melbourne's Eastern Freeway last year.

He's currently being held at the Metropolitan Remand Centre while awaiting a contested hearing on two unrelated matters, including allegations he assaulted a woman.

Defence lawyer Manny Nicolosi tried to have a suppression order granted over a bail application on Monday afternoon but Pusey interrupted the hearing asking his lawyer to withdraw the broad suppression bid.

Mr Nicolosi had argued it was necessary because Pusey had been a victim of "harassment" by the media.

"We have a man here who, it would be fair to say, has been painted as a social pariah and demonised in the media," he said.

When the bail application itself got under way, Pusey interrupted again and declared he didn't want it anymore either.

"I'm really not interested in this judicial system, it doesn't work, it doesn't help anyone. I would get better justice in Belarus under (Alexander) Lukashenko," he said.

"So everybody go home, thank you very much, I'm ending it. I'd rather sit here and enjoy my time."

Court staff muted Pusey's microphone during the outburst and it was later revealed he had been removed from the prison videolink room having damaged a camera.

The court heard Pusey refused to come back into the room to confirm his decision.

"My guess is once he digs his heels in he's unlikely to budge," his psychiatrist Adam Deacon said.

Pusey's case is due back in court next week.
