'Better club?' Nottingham Forest fans angered by Ben Osborn comments

Some Nottingham Forest fans have reacted angrily to comments made by former Reds man Ben Osborn.

Osborn left to sign for Sheffield United over the summer in a deal understood to be worth around £3.5m.

The Derby-born player had made more than 200 appearances for Forest, but has found first-team opportunities limited so far at Bramall Lane.

However, Osborn insists his career is still "on an upward incline", adding that he is "at a better club and training with better players".

While United are riding high in the Premier League following their promotion to the top flight, a section of the Forest faithful felt there was no need for what they see as a dig at his former club.

Here are some of the comments posted about it on our Facebook page...

Steven Peel: I don't know how can dare say that.

Shane Farren: Was thinking the same thing!! Would be nothing if it wasn't for Forest!! Lost all respect for him now!!

Rob Lowrider Davieson: Shouldn't (have) said that Ben.

Jay Jay James Bar: Don't bother coming back to the Reds at any time mate...

Ian James Smurthwaite: How many games has he actually played? Waste of talent sitting on the bench.

Lee Anthony Jenkins: Played 15 mins all season I think lol.

Richard Leonard: Translated into English meaning “I’m being paid more money, and that’s more important than playing”. Well done Ben. Good choice.

Darren Clarke: In all honesty if he had stayed he would have been on the bench at the very best...

Neil J O'Mahoney: Better club??? Basically his career at the moment is as a glorified seat warmer!

Carl Forsman: He’s a top fighter, and I’m sure we would have found uses for him this term. Always be a fan.

Mark Andrew Roberts: Does it really mean anything if it’s a Better Club who simply have no interest or intention of actually playing you? Osborn is so far down the pecking order that the likelihood of his playing Premiership Football at all is slim to nothing, at this point.

Christian Squires: I think we need to put this in to context. If he had said anything negative about the Blades then he’d get in to trouble. Is he at a better club? Debatable, but they are fifth in the top flight which you can’t argue with. Also how many times have we heard this from other players that have left? Strangely enough most come back and wish they had never left in the first place. Osborn is still a Red but he also wants to impress his new boss and fight for his place at his new club, anything else would be deemed a failure so I wish him well but know in a few years he’ll be back.
