Better Call Saul: Fans left ‘devastated’ after ‘perfect’ final episode

Better Call Saul fans were left heartbroken after the award-winning series came to an end on Monday night.

The Breaking Bad spin-off pulled viewers into the world of shady lawyer Jimmy “Saul Goodman” McGill (played by Bob Odenkirk ).

After six increasingly dramatic seasons, the final episode titled “Saul Gone” marked the end of the Breaking Bad era, seven years after it first debuted on AMC.

The finale saw Jimmy negotiate a plea deal that would grant him just seven years in jail, after describing the violent circumstances under which he first met Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston).

This involved being kidnapped and threatened in front of an open grave.

However, when he appears in front of a crowded courtroom that included his former lover Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) and Marie Schrader ( Betsy Brandt ), the lawyer finally decides to confess to his crimes in full.

In the final section of the episode, Jimmy receives a surprise visit from Kim in prison, who tells him his sentence has been reverted back to 86 years.

In an emotionally charged scene, the pair share a cigarette together before she leaves, and Jimmy is seemingly at peace with his punishment.

As Saul Goodman once said, it is never too late for justice to be served.

Not long after the finale aired, fans took to Twitter to dish out praise for the AMC series, even christening it one of the best TV episodes of all time.

Viewers dubbed the finale as “perfect” and stated they will “never emotionally recover” from the final episode.

Others described it as a “beautiful send off” after seven years of the show.

One fan wrote: “As soon as she pulled out the cigarettes I knew where they were going and got the chills. Beautiful finale. Amazing cinematography to top off some of the best writing and acting in television history.”

While another viewer added: “Better Call Saul’s ending was beautiful and devastating and perfect in every way. Six seasons and not a single bad episode.”

“What an absolutely phenomenal ending to a phenomenal show. I am extremely sad yet satisfied. So many great moments that I can’t fully describe in just a tweet,” wrote another.

“Yep, I’m an emotional wreck. Perfect finale. What an incredible saga this has been — truly the end of an era. I’m in awe. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul will stick with me forever. Thank you, sincerely, to everyone who created this,” someone else penned.

After the finale aired, Odenkirk shared a two-minute clip on social media, in which he addressed the end of the show.
