Or bets to avoid, if last weekend's suggestions are anything to go by. Nevertheless, here - in no particular order - are my tips for the second round of Football League fixtures:
1) Bradford to beat Stevenage @ 11-10 (League Two)
Given the lack of form line for us to go on, small stakes remain the order of the day, but Peter Taylor's side should not be odds-against for Stevenage's visit. City ran head-first into a Jake Robinson blitz last weekend (Shrewsbury would go on to come back from 3-0 down and beat Charlton in midweek) which dented the opinion of bookmakers who had priced them up as pre-season favourites, before they then took out Nottingham Forest after extra-time in midweek. "It's given the players a massive boost," said Taylor. The League newcomers salvaged a late draw at home to Macclesfield last Saturday, before losing to Pompey two days later, and their wait for a first win of the season should last a little longer yet.
2) Accrington to beat Northampton @ 7-2 (League Two)
Criticised for the state of their Crown Ground pitch and its £70,000 summer overhaul by Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon after last weekend's goalless stalemate, Stanley responded by going to Championship side Doncaster and winning 2-1 (as an aside, the club have since called the pitch contractors back for further work). On the road again tomorrow, Accrington are worth a little look against a Cobblers team that played up to their nickname in a 3-0 defeat at Torquay last Saturday, even if they subsequently beat Brighton in midweek.
