Betfred Super League Grand Final replay to kick off Salford Red Devils' 2020 campaign

Salford's 2020 Betfred Super League campaign will kick off with a Grand Final rematch against St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday January 31.

Televised live on Sky Sports, it will be the second fixture of the new season, which will get underway a day earlier with Wigan versus Warrington at the DW Stadium.

The Red Devils' first home game of the year will be the following Saturday afternoon, February 8, when the club will welcome Super League newcomers Toronto Wolfpack to the AJ Bell Stadium for a match scheduled to kick off at 2pm.

Significantly, the traditional Easter double-header has been removed from the calendar for the first time. Instead of teams being required to compete on both Good Friday and Easter Monday, six fixtures will be held across four days. Salford will travel to Warrington on Saturday April 11 for their match that weekend, which will also be televised.

Transatlantic trailblazers Toronto will host their first Super League game at Lamport Stadium against Hull FC in April, with their 'home' fixtures prior to that date set to be held at yet-to-be-determined venues outside of Canada, because of the cold weather that typically engulfs the country at that time of year.

Salford make the trip to Toronto on Saturday July 11, a match scheduled to kick off at 1.30pm local time. There has not yet been any confirmation that the Wolfpack's home fixtures will be televised, as they have been during the club's rise from League 1 to Super League.

Prior to that, the other marquee away trip for Red Devils fans to mark on the calendar is the clash with Catalans Dragons in Perpignan, which will take place on Saturday May 7. As with Toronto, it has not yet been announced whether the Dragons' home fixtures will be televised, though they are not expected to be filmed by BeIN Sports, as had previously been the case.

To avoid the last-minute rescheduling that occurred in 2019, the final round of fixtures on Friday September 11 will all kick off at the same time.

"We are delighted to be able to share the full 2020 schedule with our fans," said Super League chief commercial officer Rhodri Jones. "After a lot of work, we are happy with what has been created.

"Round one promises to be a fantastic start to our 25th season with some real heavyweight fixtures.

“There is a new feel to Easter, appreciating the tough nature of Super League on the players, and we’ve kept the Friday night final round of games which proved so successful in 2019.

“There is clearly a lot of excitement with Toronto Wolfpack coming into Super League and we’ve had to work through a number of logistical challenges regarding their fixtures."
