Betfred Cup Final farce as Rangers vs Celtic showdown is hit with horror weather

The Betfred Cup Final could be put at risk after horror weather hit Glasgow the night before the game.

Rangers face Celtic in the Hampden showdown but the downpour of rain could leave the pitch unplayable.

With more rain expected overnight and a flood alert put in place it could leave the massive derby at risk.

Heavy rainfall almost put an end to Scotland's 6-0 win over San Marino back in October when John McGinn netted a hat-trick.

The rain was lying on the surface that day after the downpour and similar could happen on Sunday and would leave the game in major doubt.

Transport systems have also been hit with high winds effecting Scotrail's services.

It's unclear if the SPFL have any plans in place to check on the pitch on Sunday morning ahead of the game which is due to kick-off at 3pm.

It would also leave the governing body needing to find a suitable day to play the game in future.

With a busy league schedule as well as both clubs hoping to be in the next round of the Europa League, they could find it difficult to schedule all the matches they need to with very few free weeks.
