Once a lesser-known Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Beta has been making waves in the off-road world for the past ten years. The company’s low-slung, lightweight Xtrainer has been a major success, providing riders with a smaller stature the perfect weapon for weekend single-track rides. They also joined the ranks of AMA Supercross with the Liqui Moly Beta Factory Racing team and hired Benny Bloss and Mitchell Oldenburg to pilot a pair of Beta 450 RX motorcycles.
Now, the Rignano sull'Arno- based factory is expanding its motocross lineup with the introduction of the Beta 250 RXF, an all-new platform powered by a dual overhead cam four-stroke motor with a “piston design that came straight from F1 technology,” according to Beta.
The 250 RXF joins the 450 RXF (formerly 450 RX) along with the 250 and 350 RX two-stroke models to round out the brand’s motocross offerings.
The 250 RXF features a dual-injector electronic fuel injection system that feeds a 249.3cc twin cam four-stroke with an electric start. Beta claims the bike has a dry weight of 222.6 lbs, likely thanks to aluminum center cases and magnesium ignition, clutch, and valve covers. The motor is mated to a five-speed transmission that was “completely redesigned for this engine and features optimized geometry to reduce weight and size without compromising strength.” The result is a lightweight and compact gearbox, perfect for banging gears around your local motocross track.
The new 250 RXF utilizes a KYB front fork and rear shock, which are valved specifically to suit the lighter weight of the bike. Excel wheels are wrapped in Dunlop MX 34 tires, with Nissin handling the braking duties.
For 2027, the Beta 450 RFX returns with an updated electronic package that includes launch control and a quick shifter. This is in addition to the traction control and dual-map settings that were offered on the 2026 model. To improve power output, a new tapered throttle body has been added, offering better pull out of corners and a broader midrange.
There are no new additions to the two-stroke motocross line from Beta, with the 250 RX and 350 RX returning, as expected. The 350 RX has a new piston that saves weight as well as reduces friction, resulting in a 1.5-hp gain, while the 250 RX benefits from an updated final gearing to improve starts. Both models also have a new muffler that is stronger than the outgoing models were equipped with.
While pricing wasn’t announced, the 450 RXF will be available this August, while the 250 RX, 350 RX and 250 RXF won't be available until September.
